|New weather station at NaDEET Online - on spot weather details for the Tok Tokkie base
Under the care of NaDEET (Namib Desert Environmental Education Trust) temperature, humidity, barometric pressure, wind speed and direction, ultraviolet ray intensity as well as rainfall are now digitally collected and stored by an Oregon Scientific WMR200. NamibRand Nature Reserve has already been collecting weather information with two stations, one at Keerwerder and one at Wolwedans. But as the weather is erratic in the Namib, e. g. it might rain heavily at Keerweder but no drop might fall 2 km away, the new weather station will now give the scientists more information about climatic developments in the area. And as a side effect, you can have a look at what the weather is like at Tok Tokkie Trails – very probably sunny, but you might be surprised. Follow the link Climate and Weather and find out (the computer linked to the weather station is not online around the clock – sorry if it’s not available).
